Why did Trump win? How could that have happened?
In sum: The problem is that things like equal pay, gay marriage, etc. are first world problems… and much of our country has 3rd world, don’t know where the next meal is coming from problems.
People aren’t racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, and whatever else the “basket of deplorables were called,” they were saying who cares about those first world issues when I’m unemployed and hungry.
You see, it’s easy for me to tweet a video of Hillary Clinton talking about things like ending the coal industry altogether, but how many families; how many thousands of people, were scared to death when she said that. Literally, the next President, had it been her, could have taken the career that already doesn’t pay enough to raise a family in the middle of the country away from that very family. She threatened not only the way of living of a people, she threatened their ability to live.
And Trump spoke directly to that in a message in a very basic way… you know… like someone once said something about “Hope” and “Change.”
Over the last 8 years, Democrats have made it seem bad to be an American by apologizing for what we’ve done to get to where we are.
And for many people in this country who are struggling to survive, being an American; that very affiliation with freedom and believing that we are the best country in the world, is what makes them wake up in the morning and keep fighting. So when you have a belief and a pride in your country and someone is telling you that you’re wrong for thinking that way; you’re going to back the guy that says, it’s time to be awesome and believe again.
Donald Trump was that guy.
