2020 Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand insists illegal immigrants who are currently crowding and illegally crossing the U.S./Mexico border “don’t need to be incarcerated” in detention centers. Gillibrand instead suggested that illegal immigrants should be released “into our community.”
The Democratic Rep. from New York, joined CBS’s “Face the Nation” over the weekend to talk about the issues at our Southern border…Gillibrand answered questions regarding specifics of border security, and the overall issue of illegal migrants crossing into the United States.
“I wouldn’t incarcerate them at all,” Gillibrand claimed. “As president of the United States, I wouldn’t use the detention system at all.”
“Hundreds of thousands of people are crossing the border and need to go somewhere before their asylum claims are actually heard.”
The congresswoman was asked to provide some specifics on how she would exactly address the crisis at the Southern border, suggesting the U.S. should blindly grant access to any illegal immigrant searching for asylum in America. Via the Daily Caller.
“They don’t need to be incarcerated. If they’re given a lawyer and given a process, they will follow it. They can go into the community in the way we fused to handle these cases under DOJ.” Said Kirsten Gillibrand.
Department of Homeland Security Director, Kevin K. McAleenan, claims the crisis at the U.S./Mexico border has escalated at such a rapid pace, he believes we have hit the critical “breaking point” at the border. Although the data from our Southern border screams CRISIS, Kirsten Gillibrand believes our border needs to “actually fund the border security measures that are anti-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, anti-drug trafficking and anti-gun trafficking. And I would defund these for-profit prison systems that are harming children and harming families who are seeking are asylum.” Via the Daily Caller.
In recent months, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention and apprehension centers have been so crowded and overwhelmed with illegal immigrants that they had to release 100,000 illegals back onto our streets.
