Mexico’s attempt to aid U.S. ICE agents and Border Patrol officials is the direct result of President Trump’s pressure to stop the surge of Central Americans illegally seeping into the United States…
Mexico previously promised to sufficiently fortify its Southern border areas with 6,000 National Guardmen last month, but refused to reveal the extent of the “crackdown” within its Northern border. Previous reports concluded the Mexican government only deployed a small percentage of the expected troops during this time period. Via
"We have a total deployment, between the National Guard and army units, of 14,000, almost 15,000 men in the north of the country," Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval said at a press conference alongside President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Defense Minister Luis Cresencio was asked if the Mexican government would be helping detaining undocumented migrants crossing into the United States. Sandoval replied: "Yes."
"Given that (undocumented) migration is not a crime but rather an administrative violation, we simply detain them and turn them over to the authorities" at the National Migration Institute, he said.

President Trump and his administration laid out Mexico’s current options with the U.S., giving their government an “ultimatum” last month, threatening to roll out 5% tariffs on all imports coming from Mexico. Trump’s sanctions were scheduled to start on June 10th, unless adequate aid was provided to stop illegals from crossing into the U.S. Via the Daily Caller.
The Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has made it clear that he wants no part in a trade war with the United States, and immediately sought negotiations for a deal.  “We’re not going to get into a trade war, a war of tariffs and of taxes,” Lopez Obrador said during a news conference earlier this month. “We’re doing all we can to reach a deal through dialogue,” Obrador concluded.
President Trump released a tweet, reassuring American citizens that the crisis at our Southern Border will come to an end with the help of Mexico, whether they like it or not…

“On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP. The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied…” Said President Trump on Twitter.
According to reports from, The Mexican government was recently criticized for their treatment of detainees (Illegal Immigrants) at the U.S.-Mexico border.
