Conservatives and Trump supporters have long claimed censorship of their thoughts and beliefs on Twitter’s platform. The news of the meeting between President Trump and Dorsey, like it or not, serves as a positive step in the right direction for fairness on Twitter. Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, both sides can agree, being silenced for individual thought is never okay...
According to Motherboard News, Dorsey explained via email, his reasoning behind meeting with President Trump, saying their talk would help bridge the gap on multiple problems facing the country.
"As you know, I believe that conversation, not silence, bridges gaps and drives towards solutions,"
"I have met with every world leader who has extended an invitation to me, and I believe the discussions have been productive, and the outcomes meaningful." Dorsey said in the email.
President Trump apparently took advantage of his time with the Twitter CEO, making his differences extremely transparent, while discussing overall solutions to their adhearent problems.
Trump tweeted after the meeting with Dorsey, saying: “Lots of subjects discussed regarding their platform, and the world of social media in general,” Trump added that he looked forward “keeping an open dialogue,” with the Twitter CEO.
While most would agree the meeting between President Trump and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is positive for all users of Twitter, Dorsey has already received criticism from the left for the meeting. With intentions to simply develop a healthier environment on Twitter's platform, Dorsey wrote:
"Some of you will be very supportive of our meeting [with] the president, and some of you might feel we shouldn’t take this meeting at all,"
"In the end, I believe it’s important to meet heads of state in order to listen, share our principles and our ideas." Dorsey wrote.
President Donald Trump previously issued his public distaste for Twitter and their apparent censorship of Republican and conservative thought, tweeting: “The best thing ever to happen to Twitter is Donald Trump.” @MariaBartiromo So true, but they don’t treat me well as a Republican. Very discriminatory, hard for people to sign on. Constantly taking people off list. Big complaints from many people. Different names-over 100 M.....”
“.....But should be much higher than that if Twitter wasn’t playing their political games. No wonder Congress wants to get involved - and they should. Must be more, and fairer, companies to get out the WORD!” President Trump tweeted.
According to FoxNews, a Twitter spokeswoman later said in an email that the meeting between President Trump and Dorsey was extremely “constructive.”
"Jack had a constructive meeting with the President of the United States today at the president’s invitation,"
"They discussed Twitter’s commitment to protecting the health of the public conversation ahead of the 2020 U.S. elections and efforts underway to respond to the opioid crisis." Said the Twitter spokeswoman. Via The DailyWire.
