During the “100% Raw Weightlifting Federation” powerlifting competition last week, transgender competitor Mary Gregory slaughtered the competition, breaking four women’s weight records. Via the Daily Wire.

According to Yahoo Sports, Mary Gregory set records in “world squat, open world bench press, masters world deadlift and masters world total.” Gregory dominated every single lift, winning nine out of nine scheduled women’s events.

Ultimately leaving some scratching their head wondering…Is this really fair?

“What a day, 9 for 9! Masters world squat record, open world bench record, masters world dl record, and masters world total record! Still processing, full meet recap to come a bit later but I do want to thank a few people,”

“Thank you!” Gregory added. “As a transgender lifter I was unsure what to expect going into this meet and everyone — all the spotters, loaders, referees, staff, meet director, all made me welcome and treated me as just another female lifter." Said Gregory on Instagram.

Adding the hashtags, #TransgenderWomen, #ShareThePlatform, #TransRightsAreHumanRights, #LGBTQ and #MoreFemaleStrength."

Naturally, massive amounts of upset citizens came forward to defend natural born female competitors. For example, former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies criticized Mary Gregory’s performance and decision competing in women’s powerlifting. Saying Gregory’s appearance has “male body with male physiology,” and that “women with female biology cannot compete. It’s a pointless, unfair playing field.” Via the Daily Wire.

2004 Olympic Gold Medal winner, Dame Kelly Holmes added to Mary Gregory’s well deserved criticism, calling the performance a “bloody joke” on Twitter. Via Breitbart News.

“It’s a bloody joke and all getting ready for biological women to boycott certain events. Have a trans category if need be but even better a trans games. Otherwise, I’m starting to worry about the backlash and abuse that the trans community will get from spectators. It will happen!” Davies said via Twitter.

Founder of “Save Women’s Sports,” Beth Stelzer, criticized the entire event for even allowing an athlete with Gregory’s attributes to compete against other natural born female powerlifters.

“Allowing men who identify as women (transgender women) to compete how they identify is demoralizing for women. It is not fair on a physical and emotional level. Allowing men to compete in women’s sports will be the end of women’s sports.” Stelzer said in an email. Via Breitbart News.

Over the past couple years we have witnessed a rise transgender athletes (biological males identifying as females) competing within specific female athletic events. These situations have created massive amounts criticism and backlash, with one side fighting for tolerance and inclusivity, and another backing fairness and simple science. Without clear rules and regulations, these situations will just continue to rise and become more out of control. What are your thoughts???
