In TheLead.com’s “Monthly Spotlight” series we highlight a different organization, candidate or charity that we like, and think you may like too! We will have featured articles, interviews and photos to raise awareness for these great causes.
During the month of December, we will highlight the 60 Plus Association. Learn about this amazing charity below, or on their website!
The 60 Plus Association is a nonpartisan seniors advocacy group known for its work on death tax repeal. The organization also fights to save Social Security and Medicare, affordable prescription drugs, and lower energy costs, while adhering to a small government, lower taxes approach and the Constitution. 60 Plus is supported by more than 7 million activists. It has been called “an increasingly influential senior citizen’s group,” and the alternative to the AARP.
The 60 Plus Association Chairman, Jim Martin, recently hosted an event on the controversial death tax. He and Grover Norquist, of Americans for Tax Reform, laid out that this tax is not only outdated, but that it’s unfair and ineffective. Congress implemented this tax as a temporary measure to help fund World War I, but it’s never been repealed. Jim stressed that repealing this tax would create hundreds of thousands of jobs, incentivize foreign investment, and help small businesses.
