PETA is Attacking Easter Candy

Vegan Candy

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wants to take the fun out of Easter now.

The animals rights group is pressing first lady Melania Trump to serve vegan candy at the White House Easter Egg Roll. The tradition, that dates back to 1878, includes games, souvenirs, and of course chocolate. Chocolate eggs go with Easter like the Easter Bunny!

However, according to The Hill, “PETA is encouraging Mrs. Trump to show cows and kids a little kindness by handing out sweet nondairy treats at this year’s Easter Egg Roll.”

PETA’s President, Ingrid Newkirk, said: “Children have a natural affinity for animals, so they’d be horrified to learn that calves are babies themselves when they’re torn away from their distraught mothers on dairy farms.”

It would be one thing for Newkirk to appeal to the President for health purposes, but attempting to scare children from enjoying this Holiday is over the top.

This is the same person who has said things like “Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in “slaughter houses.” She is no stranger to making over-the-top, idiotic claims.

Maybe rather than taking parenting advice from Newkirk, we should keep her away from our kids.

This year they’re mad about the dairy in chocolate eggs. Next year they’ll be claiming bunny shaped chocolates can actually feel pain.
